Broth of Grilled Lamb Bones

Although this broth can be made with raw lamb bones or lamb bones roasted in the oven until browned, I have been making this with smokey lamb bones grilled. We have a habit of grilling as much as possible and when the coals are finishing to ash, I have been throwing the bones on the grill to smoke them for soup making. Sublime!

I do usually let my broth cook for 3-5 days depending on my schedule and how many bones are waiting in line for becoming broth.

As always make sure you are using grassfed lamb and organic vegetables!

Ingredients:

4-5 lbs of lamb bones

3 medium carrots

one large onion

3 stalks of celery

3 springs of parsley

3 whole cloves of garlic

black pepper corns

bay leaf

salt to taste

1- Grill your lamb bones if you like, then place the bones and all the other ingredients into a stock pot or slow cooker.

2- Cook at a low heat for at least 24 hours but 3 or 4 days would be fine as well.

3- Make soup, eat or freeze. We use this broth in our shakes each day.
