Muay Thai is the traditional art of Thai self-defense. It is a style of unarmed fighting using the feet, knees, elbows, and fists as defending weapons. Muay Thai Kickboxing is arguably the most effective martial art in the world which is why ultimate fighters, the Thai military, U.S. Seal teams, the CIA and too many other institutions to name here train using this no nonsense fighting technique. Why? Because the basics can be learned quickly delivering devastating effects to an opponent or would be attacker. And because modern Muay Thai has developed into a sport so its techniques can be practiced with an opponent in a safe manner without having to imagine or theorize whether a particular technique can actually be use in “real life” situations.
That being said true Muay Thai Kickboxing is not just about fighting and can take a lifetime to master. This martial art which was developed in Thailand is its national sport. The modern version of Muay Thai still holds pieces of the original ancient tradition we now call Muay Boran (ancient boxing). Specific breathing techniques are learned to maximize health and strength, and the Rom Muay (boxing dance) also referred to as the Wai Kru (bow to teacher) is still always performed by fighters in Thailand before a match and sometimes by fighters abroad who are receiving instruction in a traditional way. The Rom Muay is used to honor the fighter’s teachers, to stretch and warm up before fighting, to increase internal energy and power, and also holds spiritual aspects within each dance.
We teach the sport of Muay Thai in a traditional way and our main focus is on delivering maximum physical fitness and self defense to our students. The training techniques in Muay Thai work the entire body and it’s a great cross trainer for any sport or adventuring that a student might wish to undertake. Students that have been training regularly often report trying a new sport or exerting themselves physically more than usual and noticing that they have little or no muscle soreness the next day. This is in addition to the mental benefits of increased confidence, concentration, and general satisfaction in life which allows us to “walk away from confrontations” without a bruised ego. We work with the students “current” physical abilities and build slowly until we reach the students goals whatever they may be.
At this time we are only offering private instruction.
